  • Top 5 Wordpress Plugins

As you can see I’ve revamped my website. Doing this has caused me to look through all of the Wordpress plugins i have running, and discovering which ones are more crucial to the websites success. Today I’m going to go through five Wordpress plugins which i believe are essential to running and managing a successful blog. Depending on what style of blog you have some of these may vary but in most cases these should apply to a brimming amount of sites.

1-Akismet- Akismet in my opinion is very important to separate comments that are spam from the rest. I myself have used this addition to Wordpress ever since I’ve started blogging and it hasn’t let me down yet. What this spam filter
does is differentiate between a legit comment and a spam comment. It uses a strict algorithm to filter these pointless messages and separates them into a spam box where you can review and delete these comments at a later date. In some rare occasions however a spam message does end up passing through the filter of Akismet but in most cases it happens only once or twice. Again i believe that this plugin is essential to keeping a safe and legit blog running smoothly and efficiently.

2-WP Touch- With the recent release of the Iphone and Ipod Touch it has never been so important for websites to have some sort of mobile version available to it’s users. I use WP Touch which takes your blog and presents it in an easy to read format for the Iphone. It takes your posts and sorts them in order from newest to oldest. There are some things with WP Touch in which you can edit like the header, amount of blog posts you wish to show, and minimal design options. However there really isn’t any reason to edit anything about the plugin. I’ve been using WP-Touch for about four or five months now and have never regretted downloading it.

3-Feedburner Feedsmith- Feedburner is a program offered by Google which allows you to manage, organize, and make money by RSS. RSS which stands for Really Simple Syndication is like a subscription service which allows you to have articles sent from a website right to one central location. Blogs by Wordpress usually already have their own type of RSS feed but doesn’t exactly show you how many people are subscribed. Feedburner Feedsmith will automatically change the RSS feed on your website to a Feedburner RSS Feed. Please note that in order to get this Plugin you need to have an account with Feedburner already. This plugin is crucial in knowing how many loyal subscribers you have and how many people visit your blog regularly.

4-All In One SEO Pack- This plugin allows you to get your site ready to be listed on search engines(particularly Google). This service optimizes your titles on each page, creates META Tags, prevents content from being duplicated, and is compatible with other plugins including Auto Meta, Ultimate Tag Warrior and much more. This isn’t a necessary plugin for keeping your site up and running but i definitely recommend it if you’re interested in driving more traffic to your website from search engines.

5-Wordpress.com Stats- For this plugin I’ll let the creator explain it him/herself. I got this from the Wordpress Plugin Website:

Once Stats is running it’ll begin collecting information about your page views, which posts and pages are the most popular, where your traffic is coming from, and what people click on when they leave. It’ll also add a link to your dashboard which allows you to see all your stats on a single page. Less is more.
Finally, because all of the processing and collection runs on our servers and not yours, it doesn’t cause any additional load on your hosting account. In fact, it’s one of the fastest stats system, hosted or not hosted, that you can use.

I myself am not using this Wordpress plugin but it’s really starting to look Appealing. I have been using Google Analytics for a little while now and i don’t believe I’m getting the most accurate results out of it. I think the Stats plugin will provide more accurate information as it’s going to be directly affiliated with my blog. It provides everything Google does but in a simple way that doesn’t cause you to have to go to a whole different website to read your stats.
